Initially when I sat down to write, I was expecting to write about finding a passionate work life. Then I realized — it’s Friday, and in my “things to blog” list I have gathered several random, pointless, pieces of information. I was trying to think of a post that would be clever and weave these little tidbits into a brilliant blog puzzle — but alas, no luck. So here is a bunch of stuff I found that I think is cool. Have a great weekend!
Laptop Sun Shade: I love to work outdoors during the summer. Nothing is better than sitting in your backyard, checking email. Your boss thinks you are wasting away in the office, but your are getting rid of your tan lines. The only problem? You can’t see the screen in the sunlight. Here is the lucky fix. (via shinyshiny)
Calgoo: This is a great little program helps sync several different calendars. I mainly use my google calendar, and it’s nice because Lapster and I can share information, but sometimes I need info when I’m offline. This program syncs — ical, google calendar, yahoo, etc. All the same info across the board. cool.
G2P: I don’t know if I should admit this, but I really miss downloading free music. Oh the days of Napster and Shareaza, but since getting my mac book I didn’t want to download music that wouldn’t sync with my itunes. I have tons of un-named music in my library and its annoying. However, I really miss being able to follow any whim and get a bunch of music. You hear a band on television — jump online and download the single (or a whole album) — for free. But I’ve given it up. So my fallback is a great site that lets you use google to find music. Type in any band and find mp3s.
Whale Fossil found in Italy: Lapster found this article. Fossils in a vineyard — the earth is a weird place.
Inspire Me Thursday: This site gives artists a weekly challenge. This week’s topic — wishes. Great collection of beautiful art and design sites — people are so crafty.
My cousin’s baby: I think she is soooooo beautiful. yummy. love her. love her.
Lapster’s light project: Last weekend, we went for our quarterly trip to Ikea. Lapster bought these great lights and made a beautiful display in our living room. I love it for three reasons: 1. Lapster built it. 2. It has a dimmer. 3. We have a bunch of different filters so it is changeable light art.
How to Speed Read: I have never been a fast reader, and it has always bothered me. It just seems to take forever for me to finish an article or novel. This little tidbit from Lifehacker might help.
