This post proves: Don’t start blogging at 2am!

It’s late in the evening, so I’ll keep it short.  Ok, I’ve got three random thoughts in no particular order. . .

1.  Senator Barack Obama was just on Conan O’Brien and he was very charming. I hope he holds out on the presidential run in 2008– he needs another senate term and then he can start thinking White House. See, here is another idea for a whole series of entries “Campaign 2008: Comments from someone who has tried to win a campaign once or twice.” Or a title that is much more humorous (Remember — it’s late).

bbwilco_mermaid1.jpgOh, and now musical guest Wilco – Yummy! Love em. Mermaid Ave is a must have. A great collection of Woodie Guthrie tunes recorded with Billy Bragg. It’s a cool background story too.

So the beginning of this post proves my point. . .

2.  I’m feeling torn because I have a lot of ideas for posts — but can’t seem to find the focus to write my ideas out. So the blog ideas list continues to grow, but the actual blog goes unattended. It is a curse.

shop24.jpg3.  This is actually why I turned on the computer to write tonight (points one and two are just stream of consciousness).  There was a sidebar in Wired Magazine about Shop24 and their giant mini-mart vending machine that holds more than 250 different products. Kind of great. Kind of frightening.

When I was living in Washington DC they tried to put a Video rental vending machine in Adams Morgan and there was terrible backlash. It was big and shiny — which I like, but I never actually saw anyone use it. Only saw people painting it with graffiti. It was nice art — but I don’t think it was a money making venture.

If I can use the video vending machine to teach a lesson to all vending machines enterprises I believe it would go like this:

It is a Friday night. I’m the girl who shows up alone to rent The Wedding Date — again, and buy the giant box of smores snacks. I’d rather be patronized by the geeky high school clerk that instructs me that if I don’t have the DVD back by midnight — it’s all fire and brimstone than have to buy humiliation on the street corner.

But that is just me! Enjoy.
